HARD. HARDER. MARINEMASTER DLC.

The Marinemaster M-44 DLC marks the first time Fortis equips its oldest collection with a full Dianoir® Diamond-Like Carbon coating. Reaching around 4’500 Vickers, the surface is roughly twenty times harder than conventional stainless steel, enhancing resistance against abrasion, saltwater and impact. Combined with 500 metre water resistance, the Fortis Lock System and the Kenissi-built Werk 11 manufacture movement, the new Gravity Black and Black Resin models continue the Marinemaster’s legacy as a professional dive instrument engineered for extreme environments.

Pressure reveals character. The new Marinemaster M-44 DLC brings the first full Dianoir® Diamond-Like Carbon coating to Fortis’ oldest collection. A surface engineered for abrasion, salt, impact and time. At around 4’500 Vickers, the case reaches a hardness roughly twenty times higher than conventional stainless steel. The result is a Marinemaster that pushes durability to a new level while keeping the clarity and reliability the collection stands for.

The First Marinemaster in DLC

Since 1954 the Marinemaster has been Fortis’ dedicated dive instrument. Decades of real use have shaped its direction. The M-44 DLC continues that story with a material that strengthens the watch where it matters most.

Dianoir® Diamond-Like Carbon forms an extremely dense carbon layer that protects the case from scratches, abrasion and corrosion. Equipment contact, saltwater, sand and pressure are part of the environment this watch was made for. The DLC coating ensures the Marinemaster keeps its composure in exactly those conditions.

Built for Depth

The Marinemaster M-44 DLC remains a professional dive watch.

The 44 mm case is engineered for water resistance to 500 meters. The screw-down crown uses a triple gasket construction, while high-performance FKM seals support long-term reliability in demanding environments.

A defining feature of the Marinemaster is the bi-directional Gear Bezel combined with the Fortis Lock System. This mechanical locking mechanism allows the bezel to be secured in place, preventing accidental movement and ensuring reliable timing during a dive.

Werk 11 Manufacture Movement

Inside the Marinemaster M-44 DLC operates the Fortis Werk 11. The automatic manufacture calibre was developed together with Kenissi and focuses on strength, reliability and long service intervals.

The movement delivers a 70 hour power reserve and uses a variable inertia balance for stable precision. Its construction emphasises durability and resistance to shocks. The result is a movement built to support the Marinemaster’s role as a serious instrument for demanding environments.

Readability When It Matters

Legibility remains one of the core priorities of the Marinemaster. Large applied indices and hands are filled with Superluminova® X1 for strong visibility in darkness and underwater conditions.

The Gravity Black version focuses on a technical monochrome aesthetic while the Black Resin introduces warm golden accents across the dial. Light catches these details like reflections on moving water, giving the watch a distinctive character without compromising readability.

The Next Chapter of the Marinemaster

The Marinemaster M-44 DLC carries forward more than seventy years of dive watch development at Fortis. The addition of the Dianoir® Diamond-Like Carbon coating strengthens the collection with a surface designed for extreme wear resistance.

Combined with 500 metre water resistance, the Fortis Lock System and the Kenissi built Werk 11 manufacture movement, the Marinemaster M-44 DLC represents a new generation of Fortis dive instruments.
